🎵Rating Kidz Bop Songs🎵
Hello everyone! This is gonna be a sorta chill, unplanned and unscripted post. I'm going to be rating kidzBop songs, and I'm going to be actually listening to them right now and writing down my thoughts on them as I go. Also, I'll be putting the Kidz Bop links in the headings so that you can listen with me.
Oh and it's not gonna any particular order it's just random songs I like I'm searching for on spotify to see if theres a KidzBop version. So, here we go!
Shower, originally by Becky G
Sidenote: I just discovered that if I focus on a link in a GDoc with my braille display and then press the enter key, it follows the link! That's neat! I didn't think there was any way to follow links in GDocs with VoiceOver!
I was actually really surprised that Kidz Bop actually had this song because it's not like a radio song.
First thoughts: immediately I noticed the strings in the intro were way too high-pitched and squeaky. Also it seems slower, and the person in the front puts too much emphasis on the middle note, I don't know how else to discribe it, but if you just listen to the song you'll know what I mean. Also, again, the high and squeaky string again in the pre-chorus. Also, they changed the lyrics from "You are my homey, lover and friend" to "You are my only homey and friend" Like what's wrong with the word "lover"? I noticed this in another song of theirs once, I don't know what it's called, but it replaced "Just two lovers" with "Just two others." Like, what? Honestly! I will now keep listening …
I'm glad to say the chorus was okay! Hey, I'm a poet and I didn't even know it! Anyways, back to the drawingboard or whatever: yes the chorus was ok, I did notice they drew the word "shower" out a little too long, but that's ok, we all make mistakes.
Next verse: oh my gosh they changed like the whole first swath of the lyrics, like what's wrong with the original lyrics I do not know. Again, I'm not even gonna bother listing all the lyrics they changed because there are two many, + I don't know half of them.
The rest of the song is pretty ok. I really liked the harmonies on "Singing In The shower" in the bridge.

Complicated, originally by Avril Lavigne
Why did they have to sing together in the first verse, it sounds kinda wrong. I wish there was just one person singing, that would make it sound way better. Also, at least one person in that crowd is singing really loudly and interrupting the flow. The person who's singing alone in the later first part of the verse, I really like.
Second part of the verse, somebody is singing out of tune a little but that's fine, you can only hear it at the bottom where I myself can't reach so I don't blame them. Also they changed "Your car" to "my car" why did they do that? I do not know, so ya
There are some harmonies in the chorus, and I really like that, that's a nice touch. Also, I like how they sing every other line (You know the one that leads into the next one) they have only one person sing that. Also, I can't help but notice that they're not switching off by line, with singers and that's good, the switching off by lines make it sound sorta weird.
In the middle of the chorus where it does like fall and crawl and break etc I don't like the harmonies there, it would be nice if there was maybe two people singing the melody in that part, without a harmony.
I really really like the post chorus / bridge part, where they're just like repeating the last line of the chorus, y'know?
The rest the song is basically the same as earlier, I like it!

Counting Stars, Originally by OneRepublic
I didn't actually think of searching for this one, but I've heard it's bad so I'm gonna try it.
Beginning is ok, they're switching off by lines again, and the first person to sing was all calm and chill, and the second person was just jump-in kinda loud, which sorta disturbed the flow, but that's ok.
Oh gosh in like the prechorus thinga they said both time "Feel Something so right when doing the right thing" those are not the words, like at all, and what was rong with the original lyrics?
I sorta understand why they left out the word "kill" but I also sorta don't, like why KidzBop you gotta be so sensitive??
I thought they were going to change when they said "Make that money, watch it burn" but they didn't so that's good. They changed "drowns me" to "downs me" I thiiiiinnnk but that's alright, it's one of there better lyric changes.
The bridge: two people singing, you could clearly hear each individual voice so that's not the best, but it's fine, what I don't get is that they changed "Sink in the river" to "Swim in the river" like honestly! It's supposed to be like that, it's like the theme of the song and they're just changing it. Urgh!
So ya

Wellerman / Sea Shanty, originally by Nathan Evans
I already listened to this one and I know I don't like it but I'ma do it again, just for the sake of it.
The first thing you'll (And I) notice is that it's far too fast.
Then they forgot (Or rather, left out for some strange reason) the chorus and proceeded straight to what should've been the second verse.
Girl, the chorus was actually ok, I'm surprised they didn't leave out the alcohol reference.
They also totally redid the second part of the chorus, the part that's just supposed to be "Da da da”s and made it their own little instrumental with the "Take our leave and go" at the end. Maybe they were treating it as the first chorus though, I guess.
And they did it again! and the chorus (with the words) again. WHYYYYY Kidz Bop???!!!!!
And then another instrumental but this time with some slightly-altered melody, which is actually really catchy, which may or may not be why I like it so much.
Well, that was quite a long break between verses. It's ok, but then it repeats, what's supposed to be the second verse, the one that starts with "She'd not been too weeks from shore" and that is very unnecessary
Then, they did it again: chorus, instrumental break chorus, then repeating the chorus then the instrumental with the melody (twice). Then they ended it!!! Just like that! There are like, two more verses!
My oppinion, this one is both good and bad. Good because it's catchy and cute. Bad because that's only like half the song which they decided to snazz up to the point that it became super long and they couldn't do anymore. I think they did that because it's like a folk song and the like, etc, they thought it would be cool if they made there own version of it, and if it was there own original song, it would be good. But it's not, it's a cover of a song with a lot more verses, and that isn't nearly as fast or as fancy.
So, Unfortunately I must say

Break Free, originally by Ariana Grande
So I didn't search this one either, in fact, I'd more or less forgotten it existed, but I found it when I clicked on the link to my first song, I forgot what it was, oh, Shower, and it took me to the album it was on, because on Spotify the songs don't have there own individual previews. When you click a link to the song it plays the song and goes to the album. Anywho, Break Free was there and it's a song I really like so yea let's get into it!
The intro was good, and also got some good 3D audio goin' (I'm wearing headphones rn so ya) and that was a nice touch, it sounded like it was coming from right infront of me.
The person in the front sounded a lot like Ariana Grande from the original version, so that was really cool.
I think they said "Really are" instead of "really am" and I do not think that is gramatically correct. It's fine though, every one makes mistakes.
I'm actually really liking this!
There are some really high note harmonies from the original in the last chorus but these people nailed those! They even did the cool swing bit at the end!

Now I'ma keep playing see what comes on next. I want a little surprise
The next song that came on was not Kidz Bop and it was five little monkeys, so no ways.
Also, I'ma sign off now because my braille display and headphones are competing for bluetooth making typing really slow and draining my battery a lot, + I have to go to Jiu-Jitsu really soon, so until next time, this is Miss Gevious, signing off!
