👻Haunt me 👻 The book i read in one sitting👻 Review 👻 Bonus post!⭐️
Hi Peeps! I have no idea why I needed a bonus post today, maybe because it was the day before the first day of school, or because it's Labor Day, or my brother's birthday (Happy Birthday to him by the way!) or I just felt the urge to post this! I don't know.
Also I finished Deep Blue (I actually finished it like a week ago) and I'm going to say now that it was really good, and that I really recommend it, but I just have soooo many posts lined up, and I just can't bear to postpone them, *Dramatic sigh* . Actually I probably could have my other stuff postponed (Hah, get it? Because it's a post ?) them, but I just don't want to so it'll probably only gonna come out in October, like, late october, early November maybe, and you're just gonna have to wait. Mwahahaha! Man, I wish I could use HTML formatting in my posts (I already tried, in a test post which I deleted mwahaha, and it didn't work) because that's just easier, y'know? That's the reason I don't do much formatting in my posts, because it's just kinda hard LOL. I plan these out in Google Docs but even in Blogger it's hard because focus jumps around a lot sadly.
But anyways yea. I don't really read much horror fiction, the only scary stories I really read are on this website called Scary For Kids, and even those aren't really that scary. I also look at the games section to get story ideas. I'm already planning one for the game Red Door Yellow Door (Which by the way I believe is either a; non-existent or b; spiritually inappropriate, or possibly, both, by that I mean the game, not the story, LOL) and you peeps are welcome to take guesses on what you think the plot will be.
But anyways I'm rocketing off on so many, what are they called, sanctions? Whatever. I'm just gonna get to the point!
I like certain types of scary stories but not others, and there's no pattern, I just read the blurb (Like any book) and just determine whether I think I'll like it or not. But anyways, I decided I'd like this one, Haunt Me by K R Alexander, and I was right!
This book is about a girl who has recently lost her twin sister, who she was very close with. She's at a sleepover with two of her best friends, when one decides to attempt a ritual to summon spirits (Which, by the way, I would not recommend trying; according to numerous reports from my friends, it actually works, and I have deduced that the book is right about one thing: the spirits are evil and pretty much just want to destroy you). Our main character, Maria, wants to contact her dead sister, Isabella, and decides to try. She manages to reach Isabella (Or, what she thinks is Isabella, still haven't figured out that part yet) and the who prompts Maria to "let her in" which Maria does. But then she accidentally lets in an evil spirit and then everything starts to go wrong.
For like half the story, I was aware of / had deduced the following too things
1: the spirit Maria let in was not leally Isabella
2: Maria just needs to forgive herself and let go
3: (Bonus) and girl, it's really not a good idea to go messing with spirits😐
The story was so heartwarming! It teaches a wonderful lesson about forgiveness—even towards yourself.
Because Maria thought Isabella's death was her fault, her forgiving herself was what totally changed the story for her, what helped her defeat this evil spirit.
One thing I love about this is Maria's character. She has flaws, but not the kind of flaws that make her a bad character (Although those are nice sometimes) but the kind of flaws that simply allow you to sympathize with her. And although since the beginning of the story we knew she blamed herself for her sister's death (We didn't know why; another thing I really like) her perfectly afted personality made it clear that she would never mean such a thing, that she would never actually kill her sister she was so close with. And it's so wonderful when she finally accepts that, sacrificing herself to save her friend. Also it was so heartwarming when she actually saw her sister and they talked I cried in that part. I loved it!
So, I give it a for-sure 5 stars, and and you should definitely try it
