My weekend camp in New Hampshire
Hey friends! Today I'm here to tell you about my weekend in Nh, like a bunch of weeks ago. I went to a weekend camp for visually impaired teens. Sorry it took so long.
So on Friday of that weekend I was getting picked up from school so I'd miss science and a bit of facs. Also we had a faulty smoke detector go off at the beginning of facs, like right as the bell rang, I was in the middle of the halls right next to the speaker and it was so loud urgh! I was also kinda lookin forward to making me a grilled cheese sandwich in facs, but that didn't happen, because by the time we came back in from the faulty alarm, I had to go in like a minute, so no grilled cheese for me. But I had a muffin in the car, and I messed everywhere but that was fine it was delicious!
I got into the van to new hampshire which was leaving from Newton. Not many people can go to this camp at once, so it's more or less the same lil gang of us that signs up over and over (They have three of these a year btw: in march, june, and october) with the occasional newbie. No newbies this time, sadly, but that was fine. I got in the van and sat in the back with Elias and Sophia , and Heisy and Lauren sat in front of us. We chatted for a while and played a game called poison number, which is like a camp favorite of ours. Basically you pick two numbers: a higher number to count up to, and a smaller number to go in increments by, for example 30 and 3. So you would go around counting up to 30, and you could say up to 3 numbers (Or the amount that you specified before) and your goal is to not have to say your top number (In this case, 30) the person who has to say 30 is out.
So we played a few rounds of that, and then road trip lull settled over us all and we just started listening to our own music and stuff. It was a three-hour drive, and when we were close, we wrote down what we were getting for dinner from a nearby restaurant. It goes like the same every time so I pretty much know the drill by now, but it never gets old. I got a sub that had grilled chicken on it, + lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and mayo. I just couldn't resist! We got to the hotel we'd be staying at, and we settled in (I was with Heisy!) and we hung out and unpacked, and I had finally remembered to bring my own charger. The last two times I went I either forgot my charger or thought I wouldn't need it. So I plugged that in, and Heisy and I just chatted for awhile, and then we got dinner and sat in the hotel's cafeteria, and waited for it to arrive, which took like an hour. I got a root beer from the soda machine and was practically done with it by the time our food arrived. Also, I enjoyed shaking the bottle so it hissed. And I ate my sub and it was really messy and I got a stain on my jeans—oops!—and it was really delicious, and I loved it. Then we had our evening activity, which happened to be a animal show of some sort. I petted a chinchilla, yay! And some sort of skink, and I said "Hi, snakey!" to it, and it smacked me with its tail, which I took to mean it wasn't very happy with that nickname. LOL! And I also held a cockroach and it seemed to like me. And I petted a rabbit that smelled like toilet paper but I loved it so much anyways. Then I went upstairs to my room and had a nice (luke)warm shower, and just listened to podcasts till like 10:30, then I went to bed.
Saturday morning: I woke up at around 6:30. I procrastinated on getting up for like an hour, then I quickly got up and brushed my teeth and put my shoes on, and then we had to go. Me and Heisy and the rest of the girls (Sophia and Delaney and Lauren) and took the elevator down to the cafeteria and we met the boys there, and we ate breakfast and listened to music. I ate a waffle and corn flakes and orange juice. Then we all headed over to the conference room and played some games, including cup stacking (If you dont know what cup stacking is go look it up cuz its hard to explain) and a sort of guessing game which took 4 ever. And this thing where you had to transfer a bag of beans into a bowl without dumping it and without using your hands. That was really fun. I had like a spatula thing, and I was trying to use that to slide them out of the bag into the bowl but that didnt work out, and so I put my hands in the paper bag and just kinda grabbed them and put 'em into the bowl, because they said you couldn't touch the beans with your hands, but I wasn't touching them with my hands, I was using a plastic bag with my hands in it. LOL and also this was all done blindfolded to make it fair, which I loved.
Then we went to a farm and I had a ham and cheese sandwich and an apple and an apple cider doughnut. and apple juice, in a lil container that looked like an apple. Then we carved pumpkins and they smelled kinda bad and there was a bunch of gross goop inside and I couldn't imagine how that was the first step to the delicious pumpkin pie, bread, muffins, and fritters I loved.
After that me and Heisy and two of the staff members went on the haunted hike there, and we sorta got lost, but that was half the fun, so yeah. It wasn't scary at all to me, not really, maybe cuz I couldn't actually see them (Even though the staff were describing it to us)
We went back to the hotel after that, where we chilled and played some more random games, then we went to the '99 for dinner. Even though me and like everyone else aren't necessarily kids anymore, at this point we just order from the kids menu so we can get free ice cream sandwiches LOL .
I got me a good ol' cheeseburger and fries and a Shirley Temple! After that we went back and some of us went swimming, I didn;t I played some uno with a few friends and also a tactile card matching game. Nothing more interesting after that
Sunday was much quicker in the morning and I got down at about 7:30. I had a waffle and strawberry yogurt, and drank orange juice. To be honest I dont really remember what we did after that... oh yeah, we did mug cakes. They were really good. I had brought a mug I got for Christmas last year that says "I'm not arguing. I'm just explaining why I'm right" on it, which totally represents me. The mug cake was delicious! It was rainy, and then we went home and that was that.
So yeah I hope you enjoyed the brief recap of my nh weekend camp. Untilnext time, this is Miss Gevious, signing off!
